Custom Ziggy Mirror Mascot Installation: From Concept to Event Centerpiece

The Challenge
Our client approached us with a unique character named Ziggy and a vision to transform the mascot into a reflective, mirror-ball-style installation. The goal was to preserve Ziggy's playful personality while creating a dramatic decorative element capable of interacting with stage lighting and digital environments.
The installation needed to be durable, lightweight enough for suspension, and visually impactful from multiple viewing angles.
Design & Engineering
Working from the client's original artwork and 3D renderings, our team developed a custom fabrication plan centered around a fiberglass structure.
The project included:
- Custom fiberglass body construction
- Integrated suspension hardware
- Hand-applied mirrored glass mosaic tiles
- Custom-painted facial features and character details
- Event-ready finishing and quality control
Fiberglass was selected because it provides excellent structural strength while maintaining smooth curves and lightweight performance.
The Mirror Ball Transformation
Once the fiberglass structure was completed, each section of the mascot was carefully covered with mirrored glass mosaic tiles.
This mirror finish transformed Ziggy from a static character into an interactive decorative piece capable of reflecting light, color, and movement throughout the venue.
To preserve the mascot's identity, the eyes, mouth, cheeks, and toe details were hand-painted rather than covered with mirror tiles. This ensured that Ziggy remained recognizable while benefiting from the dramatic visual impact of the reflective surface.
Installation & Event Performance
The completed Ziggy mascot was suspended above the event space using integrated hanging hardware.
Under stage lighting and LED video walls, the mirrored surface created constantly changing reflections that enhanced the overall atmosphere of the venue. As lighting conditions shifted throughout the event, Ziggy appeared to come alive, reflecting colors, motion, and visual effects from the surrounding environment.
The result was a unique centerpiece that attracted attention, encouraged photography, and became part of the immersive event experience.
