Generation Store at New York Comic Con 2018

Paul Espinoza on Oct 18th 2018

Thursday, October 4th the was start of the 12th annual New York Comic Con at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. The convention that brings together the world most passionate comic book, video game, cosplay, anime, and science fiction fans runs for 4 days brought a lot of excitement and comradery.

Generation Stores had the pleasure of providing custom made giant inflatable balloons for the SYFY channel’s fan lounge. An area of the convention where fans can receive a free t-shirt, get their face painted, have an area to relax from the hustle of the NYCC show floor, and get other free goodies. If you’re looking for custom giant balloon for your event, we offer them in a variety of colors and sizes range from 4 feet to 16 feet in diameter. If you want to put you own image on the balloon you will need contact us after placing your order and send us the logo or graphic file you wish to use.

The way SYFI used the inflatable balloons was smart in that it captures your eyes and immediately drew attention to their fan lounge. The picture below was taken from the main entrance of the Javits Center. The method of stacking 3 different sized balloons creates a level of height and putting 2 side by side created an eye catching entrance, which led to an extension of the fans lounge that had a panel area and a professional photographer.

The best part about these kind of events is the passion and excitement the die-hard fans bring. From the elaborate costumes to the brilliant original art, it’s hard to not walk the show floor in amazement. I was lucky enough to bump into Venom, Han Solo & Chewbacca, and Rick from Rick & Morty. There was also a number of artists selling original art and action figures from a number of different franchises. Pieces from the Dragon Ball Z and Batman series really caught my eye with their originality and how it feels like they were taken straight out of a scene.

Streaming Service “VRV” served the most unique experience at NYCC. At their booth they were handing out invitations to their main offices a block from the Javits Convention Center. VRV recently got the rights to “Nicksplat” a streaming service that hosts all of the old 90’s Nickelodeon shows and have been pushing their #ChildhoodOnVRV campaign. At their offices there was a cereal bar, multiple televisions playing various cartoons from the 90’s, an art gallery, lounge area, and a giant cereal bowl filled with foam marshmallows resembling Lucky Charms cereal.
